Create and edit release drafts
Start a draft with the Release Wizard’s own fields: title, release type, genre, tracks, credits, stores and release date. An unfinished draft is saved, so you can come back and complete it later.
catalog:writeWBBT MCP connects your WBBT account to ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant that supports remote MCP. Describe your release in plain words: the assistant creates the draft, uploads your cover and audio and runs the same checks as the Release Wizard. When everything is ready, you review it in WBBT and send it to distribution yourself.
Create a single draft called “Night Drive” for my artist. Genre: Electronic. Ask me for anything that’s missing.
Done. “Night Drive” is saved as a single draft with your artist from My Artists. To finish it I need the producer, the composer’s full name, a performer role, the cover art and the audio file.

I produced it, and the composer is Alex Rivera. I play synths. Here are the cover and the WAV.
Both files are uploaded and the Release Wizard check says ready. Nothing has been sent yet. In WBBT, open Releases → Saved Drafts and press Distribute to review and confirm.

Each tool works only inside your own WBBT account, and only with the permissions you approved. The permission each one needs is shown on its card.

catalog:writeIn ChatGPT, a WBBT file picker opens in the conversation so you can choose your cover or several audio files at once. Other assistants send files through WBBT’s authenticated upload. Square JPEG, PNG, HEIC or HEIF artwork is converted to a 3000×3000 JPEG.
catalog:writeThe assistant checks missing fields, your saved My Artists names, the roles every track needs (Primary Artist, Producer, Composer and Performer) and your account’s earliest release date. Ready means the metadata and files are complete. It does not send anything.
catalog:writeAsk about your releases, track credits and saved My Artists names. If a release’s artist and its track credits do not match, the assistant receives a warning so it can point it out to you.
catalog:readRead your monthly credited earnings and daily listening for your own catalogue, with platform and country breakdowns. Payout account details are never shared with the assistant.
finance:readAsk what is happening with a support request and read your own support conversations without leaving the chat.
support:readMCP prepares the draft. The decision to distribute is always yours, and you make it inside WBBT.
WBBT MCP tools create, edit and check drafts. They cannot send a release to distribution, tick a legal confirmation or change a release’s status.
Open Releases → Saved Drafts and press Distribute. The Release Wizard’s final review opens, you tick the five legal confirmations yourself and press Distribute.
When the assistant changes a draft, any earlier confirmations are cleared, so what you approve is always the latest version.
You choose what the connection may do. It only reaches your own account: no admin tools and no other user’s data.
Account → MCP lists every assistant you authorized. Revoke a connection or a manual key there and access stops.
A release sent from a draft is checked against the same Release Wizard rules and goes through WBBT’s normal review.
The final step, in WBBT
There is nothing to install for ChatGPT, Claude or other remote MCP assistants. You add WBBT as a custom connection and sign in with your WBBT account.
Sign in to your WBBT account, open Account → MCP and copy the connection URL.
https://app.wbbt.net/mcpAdd the URL as a custom MCP connection and name it WBBT. Your assistant’s setup steps are below.
Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT settings, then add a custom MCP connection from Plugins (Apps in older layouts).
Open Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
Add a remote MCP server in your assistant’s connection settings. It needs HTTP and OAuth support.
Connect with OAuth: no API key is needed. Sign in on the WBBT screen and approve the permissions you want.
Select the WBBT connection in a conversation and ask for what you need.

Show my releases and help me prepare a new release draft. Ask me for any missing required information.
Menus and custom connection availability vary by assistant and by your account with it. You add the WBBT connection yourself; it is not an app-store listing.
No OAuth support? Local assistants can connect with a manual key from Account → MCP → Advanced. A key lasts 7, 30 or 90 days, is shown only once and can be revoked at any time.
You approve permissions when you connect. Writing drafts is a separate permission, so a read-only connection can never change anything.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use tools from another service. The WBBT MCP server gives your assistant a defined set of tools for your own WBBT account, such as reading your releases or creating a release draft.
ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants that can add a remote MCP server with OAuth. Local assistants without OAuth support can use a manual key from Account → MCP. Menus and custom connection availability depend on the assistant and your account with it.
No. The assistant prepares and checks drafts only. You send a release to distribution yourself in WBBT: open Releases → Saved Drafts, press Distribute, tick the five legal confirmations in the final review and press Distribute.
No. MCP is separate from the Distributor API. You connect from Account → MCP and sign in with your WBBT account through OAuth; a manual key is only an option for assistants without OAuth. Your plan’s usual release rules still apply when you submit.
Only what the permissions you approved allow, and only in your own account. It never receives your password, payment identifiers or payout account details, and it has no admin access.
Not for ChatGPT, Claude or other remote MCP assistants. You add WBBT yourself as a custom connection with the URL from Account → MCP, then sign in and approve the permissions.
No. MCP is for personal use within your own WBBT account. It must not be used to sell distribution services, rent out access or serve third parties. For a business that serves other artists, look at the Distributor API or White-Label.
Open Account → MCP in WBBT and choose Revoke access next to the connection. Manual keys are revoked from the same page, and access stops right away.
More answers about releases, artwork and royalties are in the WBBT FAQ.
Connect your assistant from Account → MCP. It prepares the draft, you review it and press Distribute.
