Editorial policy
How the WBBT Records team writes, checks and corrects the guides in our journal.
Last updated
Who writes the journal
The journal is written by the WBBT Records team. Posts carry the byline WBBT Records rather than an individual name, and we do not publish profiles, photos or credentials for authors who do not exist. If a post is ever signed by a named person, that person will be real and will have a page that says who they are.
WBBT Records is run by WBBT GROUP LTD (Company No: 17150661), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. You can reach us at [email protected].
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research and to produce first drafts and outlines. Nothing is published straight from a tool. The team reviews and fact-checks every guide before it goes live, including the title, the description, the figures, the links and the claims about our own products, which are checked against the pricing page, the FAQ and the service pages.
The cover pictures in the journal are AI-generated illustrations, and each one is labelled as such under the image. They are decoration, not evidence of anything a guide describes.
Sources and what we do not promise
Where a guide depends on rules set by someone else (a streaming service, a collecting society, YouTube, a law), we link to that organisation's own documentation and tell you to check it, because those rules change. Estimates are labelled as estimates, and a worked example is labelled as an example.
We do not promise streams, playlist places, chart positions or earnings, and we do not publish invented statistics, testimonials or case studies. The journal is general information for independent artists and labels. It is not legal, tax or financial advice; for a contract, a rights dispute or a tax question, ask a qualified professional.
Dates and updates
"Published" is the date a guide first went live. "Updated" appears only when the substance of a guide changed, such as a rule that moved or a step that was corrected, and it is the date of that change. Reformatting a page or fixing a typo does not change either date, and we do not change dates to make a page look newer.
Corrections
If you think something in a guide is wrong or out of date, write to [email protected] with the page and the sentence. We check it, fix what is wrong, and where the fix changes what a reader should do we say so in the guide.
Where WBBT has an interest
WBBT sells music distribution: artist and label plans, and white-label and API products for businesses (see pricing). A guide that compares distributors, or that explains what our own plans do, is therefore written by a seller, and the footer of every guide says so. We describe our own products from what they actually include and other services from their published information; check any provider's current terms before you decide.
